School Shooting First Responder

The School Shooting First Responder course is a one-day (8 hour) course designed to present the tactics and information necessary to deal with an active shooter in a school environment or in other public area where the suspect(s) are mobile.

The course is geared for all law enforcement and military. Violence in the workplace is becoming more prevalent as is in our schools. You may be the first one on scene at one of these incidents - then it's up to you to make things happen and begin initiating a plan.

This course includes information and training from the individual officer or deputy's equipment selection to setting up a hasty command post to post incident actions and responsibilities.

In this course you will be taught:

  • Preplanning & maps
  • Pre-briefing school personnel
  • Understanding current procedures
  • Mutual aid (local agencies fire rescue,
  • American Red Cross counselors)
  • Rapid Reaction Team & Tactical Team response
  • Individual's "Go Bag"
  • The first responder's initial responsibilities
  • Setting up the perimeter and calling in support
  • Role of the back-up
  • Combat Glide Drill & Laser Rule
  • APC, use of the Armored Personnel Carrier in Movement to Threat
  • Immediate Action Drill (4 person team)
  • Clearing corners & Penetration Flood
  • Read Method & Hallway Security & Porting
  • Arrest Team Actions & Rescue Team(s)
